LEGO City and Friends at the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort

The LEGOLAND Windsor Resort is gearing up for a busy 2015, and will be ensuring that the much loved LEGO City and LEGO Friends themes are well represented. Ever popular rides are getting an update, areas of the park are getting re-themed and a new category of hotel room is coming! Read on to find out what’s new for this year at one of the UK’s most popular theme parks…

Before moving on to what’s new this year, the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort Hotel has the following Half Term activities going on in February:

Guests at the LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort Hotel’s Junior Builder Week will enjoy an unforgettable and unique break this February half term. From just £130 a family of four can enjoy an overnight stay in an amazing LEGO® themed room plus breakfast at the LEGO-tastic Bricks Family Restaurant and the chance to meet with The LEGO® Movie stars Emmet and Wyldstyle. PLUS builders can participate in a very special LEGO Big Build creating a giant mosaic that will become a permanent fixture in the Hotel.
As well as the Big Build, LEGO tower building and free build sessions will take place each day for young builders to enjoy, plus the chance to make personalised versions of LEGOLAND’s famous ‘pop badges’, with all participants receiving a special certificate of achievement. The fun continues with time to meet Emmet and Wyldstyle – the much loved characters from the smash hit The LEGO Movie – before fancy dress discos and bedtime stories for young guests each evening.
Prices for the unique overnighter represent sensational value starting at just £130 for a family of four including all build activities. Although the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort Theme Park will be closed during the week, there is plenty to keep the family entertained at the Hotel with stunning central play areas, an outdoor play area and the splash-tastic LEGO Pirates Splash Pool.

Now on to the newness! Well, relative newness. Over the past decade the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort has seen numerous attractions and lands open, but certain areas of the park have had seen little change, and some unfortunately have been looking a little tired. Thankfully this year guests will see a freshen-up of these areas, starting with LEGO Traffic becoming LEGO City…

LEGO®-tastic improvements to LEGO City from March 2015
Guests to the LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort will see changes to one of the Resort's original and most popular areas in 2015 as the famous Traffic attractions become part of a new, improved LEGO® City area. The LEGO City Driving School is bigger and better than ever with more child-size Fiat cars as well as a new lane on the test course. Novice motorists (aged 6-13) looking to pass their LEGO City Driving School test this year will be briefed in a bright and colourful newly re-vamped training area before taking the wheel of a LEGO Brick shaped mini electric powered Fiat car to negotiate the test course. With an increased capacity more drivers can get behind the wheel than ever before and under six year olds can get in training too at L-Drivers.
Over at the new look Boating School guests navigate the waters around the busy LEGOLAND Coast Guard HQ. Boating School also gets a new look featuring more boats and more LEGO models, featuring surprising animations and audio effects – making LEGO City more LEGO-tastic fun than ever when the Resort opens for the 2015 season on 13 March 2015. Then it's time to jump aboard a fleet of fire engines to put out a raging fire at the Fire Academy and take a flight on Balloon School.

Meanwhile the popular girls’ theme, LEGO Friends, is getting a lot of love from the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort too!

New LEGO® FRIENDS themed Hotel Rooms from March 2015
LEGO Friends fans are in for a Heartlake City double whammy at the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort in 2015 with ten premium themed rooms opening at the unique Resort Hotel in March 2015... followed by a totally new LEGO Friends area on the Resort for early summer. From the bright wall graphics and LEGO models, these rooms are pure Heartlake City. Recreated in LEGO are some of the Friends' favourite pets - Scarlett the Dog, Felix the Cat and Goldie the Bird plus
look out for LEGO pony rosettes, butterflies and flowers too. Accommodating two adults and up to three children each room has a separate sleeping area for young Friends and their grown-ups. Children (and adults alike) will delight in solving the special clues hidden in the carpet to unlock the Friends LEGO surprise that awaits in the LEGO safe. Plus there are interactive games and two TVs - one for the kids and one for the adults, as well as a premium en-suite bathroom with more LEGO twists and flourishes.
... AND a totally new LEGO FRIENDS area on the Resort from early summer
The LEGO Friends theme continues in early summer when an all new area will open on the Resort giving fans the opportunity to step right into the Heartlake City world of Mia, Andrea, Stephanie, Emma and Olivia - and get to meet them too! The current LEGO City area will become Heartlake City. Featuring a mix of character meet and greets, a live action music show featuring all five friends, a Heartlake City Mall themed area, and new attractions - the new land is guaranteed to delight and enthral.  Featuring a mix of character meet and greets, a live action music show featuring all five friends, a Heartlake City Mall themed area, and new attractions - the new land is guaranteed to delight and enthral.

It will be a shame to see many classic models and ideas disappear from what was My Town, however as the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort has developed this area is no longer well themed. The models need a lot of love, the Explorers Institute and Magic Show have long been closed… it’s time for something to be done with this area, and Heartlake City will add a whole new kind of environment to the theme park. With LEGO Friends seemingly here to stay, and for many children being the main LEGO experience, it should be represented.

Meanwhile LEGO City is the most popular theme, and Traffic has been an odd name for that area since the Fire Academy opened there. The Boating School always has queues, so keeping that ride but updating it will be a great move. The Driving School also gets busy, so any more capacity there will be very welcome. The opening of Duplo Valley was a great example of how much fun these re-imagined areas can be.

Having these areas of the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort updated will bring the older areas of the attraction in line with more recent additions like the Star Wars Miniland and Atlantis, keeping the entire park fresh and exciting. The LEGOLAND Windsor Resort opens for 2015 on 13th March in full, with the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort Hotel opening on 13th February.
